Habitat for Humanity: Pride Build

We are hosting our second annual Pride Build this year in River Falls! It takes place Wednesday, June 19 through Friday, June 21, and we are looking for volunteers ages 16+ to help us celebrate Pride month while giving back to the community. No experience in construction is needed – we work with everyone at whatever level of comfort/experience they come to site with!

What makes it a “Pride” Build, you may ask? Good question! While we are not building this home specifically for an LGBTQ+ individual/family, we start each day by providing education on housing issues that are specific to the LGBTQ+ community. We know knowledge is power and we hope to spark our volunteers’ interest in learning more beyond this event, and becoming advocates for affordable housing for all. Our build site is a safe and inclusive environment for everyone to learn and to share their own knowledge, and we focus on putting out the call for volunteers to organizations/in spaces that have a significant LGBTQ+/ally presence. (Such as this fantastic Facebook group!) And of course, it’s Pride, so we have to celebrate – with daily coffee, lunch, treats, goody bags, shirts, and a prize drawing!
