We proudly welcome the Queer Crawl to our downtown Hudson shop!
Best friends Gillette Kempf and Shelly Weinstein have found their dream come true here at Chapter2 Books! In April of 2023, Gillette bought Chapter2 Books and installed Shelly as her store manager. Previously Gillette ran a small brick-and-mortar bookstore called An Open Book, then later a pop up/online bookstore, Travellin’ Storyseller, but her new home away from home is right here on Locust Street. Gillette and Shelly are thrilled to have their own specially-curated book space, since both are avid readers with their own unique tastes. Shelly is more prone to nonfiction, with her interests lying in nature, animals, memoirs, and “offbeat” travel. Gillette enjoys fiction, especially historical, romance, and sci-fi. Together they create a perfectly balanced team–with their combined interests, Chapter2 Books is able to find a book for just about anyone!
Chapter2 Books is proud to have a wonderful bookselling team of four women, each with her own specialty. Together we hope to inspire readers around the Hudson area and beyond to change the world for the better. Independent bookstores are an incredible opportunity to tell diverse stories in a localized area, so our team has been working tirelessly this past year to build up our inventory to reflect our values. Our store is still a work in progress so we are always open to suggestions. We also firmly believe that reading should be accessible to everyone, so we have a discount room that’s stocked to the brim with both popular titles and classics. Regardless of who you are and what you enjoy, you will find something to love here.
We are lucky to share space and community with the wonderful team at BackRoom Vintage, a co-op of 17 vendors that recycle, repurpose, renew, and relove furniture and home decor.
